POSITION LOCATION:
You will be based in North Sydney, Australia and will report to WKES’ Manager of Energy Operations in Australia and be part of the Australian Price Risk Management Team.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Energy Analyst needs to possess strong analytical skills, interest in the energy market to research, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills with teamworking ability. The role is primarily Australian energy focused, with the mid-term possibility of expansion into other APAC countries and other commodities.
In this role you will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including:
  • the Key Account Manager team
  • the Data Management team
  • energy retailers, network service providers and other relevant stakeholders
  • WKES’ clients and partners
You will be analysing client and market data and will make recommendations based on that data that will influence business decisions taken by your internal and external stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
  • collate and create detailed energy budgets and forecasts for our clients
  • analyse and optimise network and other relevant energy tariffs
  • end-to-end manage electricity and gas tenders to ensure optimal commercial and contractual outcomes
  • assist the Price Risk Management Team by ensuring WKES’ internal data bases are up-to-date and provide support in ad-hoc client and market data analyses
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving and mathematical skills are absolutely essential
  • Very high attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload are essential
  • High level of competency and experience in working with Windows-based application software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to research, analyse, and stay on top of the trend, relevant data and information that impact the energy market
  • At least one 3 years of experience, working in an office environment. 5 years would be preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in the energy industry would be preferred, but not essential
  • A degree in Finance/Commerce/Economics is a plus
  • Coding skills in VBA, or R or Python is a plus
